Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services at U.S. Department of Agriculture

As USDA Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, Dr. Katie Wilson is responsible for improving the health and well-being of Americans by developing and promoting science-based dietary guidance in the department that administers USDA’s 15 nutrition assistance programs. Prior to joining USDA, Dr. Wilson spent twenty-three years as a school nutrition director, served five years as the Executive Director for the National Food Service Management Institute and one term as President of the School Nutrition Association, and was an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Master of Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Doctorate in Foodservice and Lodging Management from Iowa State University.
