Random Acts of Ice Cream

U.S. dairy farmers and their friends gave away free ice cream across the country during one hot July week of 2018 as part of the “Scoop It Forward” campaign, which took place during National Ice Cream Month. 

The campaign encouraged random scoops of kindness by surprising people and hopefully inspiring them to do the same for others. From museums to care centers to city streets, countless people found themselves in the right place at the right time. Scroll on to see the happy faces.

Florida Dairy Farmers gave children the chance to make crafts and eat ice cream at the Miami Children’s Museum.

A McDonald’s in Carmel, Indiana, invited local Girl Scout troops to craft their own ice cream treats and meet Kelly MacKinnon, a dairy farmer (right).

Visitors to Kilwins in Ann Arbor, Michigan, savored random acts of ice cream, thanks to United Dairy Industry of Michigan.

A New Jersey adult day center received a visit from a very special ice cream truck, courtesy American Dairy Association North East.

American Dairy Association Mideast staff hit the sidewalks of downtown Columbus, Ohio, to pass out free ice cream to passersby.

Boys and Girls Club members in Oregon received a sweet surprise on a hot day from the Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council.

Camp Attitude attendees received a gift of ice cream from the Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council. The camp, started by dairy farmer Louie Kazemier, serves children with special needs and their families.
